Desks for Kids

We provided 470 desks to kids and schools.

Many local students didn’t have a dedicated workspace at home, impacting their ability to learn during the pandemic. We produced and distributed durable, easy-to-assemble desks for kids in need!

Many local students didn’t have a dedicated place to participate in online schooling from home during the pandemic. We worked with our partners at Building Momentum in Alexandria, VA, to quickly design and prototype a reliable design that did not require hardware to assemble.

Thanks to our donors and community, we produced 470 desks for kids!

The Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters donated the first batch of wood for the desks. Alumni of Virginia Tech helped to cut and assemble the desks. Once completed, Alexandria City Schools and the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington helped to determine who gets a desk.
